Sibu Island Resort Sdn Bhd was incorporated in 1985. The paid up capital of the company is RM 14.63 million, with JCorp owning 55 percent equity whilst the balance of 45 percent is held by Kumpulan Penambang Sdn Bhd.
The company operates a resort hotel known as Sibu Island Resort. The resort is located on the beautiful Pulau Sibu Tengah off Mersing on the East Coast of Johor. It has now become one of the major tourist destinations for both local and foreign tourists.It is an unspoiled tropical Island Resort paradise just 12 km away from the mainland off Tunjuk Laut Jetty, Tanjung Leman.
Its crystal clear blue waters and spectacular fine white sand provides another peaceful getaway for tourist. The resort has 121 chalets comprising various categories built on hill slopes and lowland. Some of the chalets especially the Honeymoon Suite, commands a panoramic view of the white sandy beach and nearby islands. The chalets are built like typical traditional Malay kampung houses, which provide all the comfort of a four-star holiday resort. A host of indoor games and water sports activities are also available including snorkeling, scuba diving, canoeing, fishing and yachting. The island is surrounded by beautiful corals with exotic fish abound in the surrounding waters. In 2001, the company registered a turnover of RM 5.41 million.
